Listen you guys, big does not equal good. Necropotence is good. Dragon Overlord or whatever it's called does NOT equal good for it's cost and drawback. Magic kind of started getting worse after the Oddesey block ended. This is the definition of a good card.

I don't know the card name or mana cost of the card he was talking about. All I know is a 6/6 flyer with double strike is a good card. My favorite card combo of all time would have to be a Loxodon Punisher equipped with 2 Leonin Swords, a Bonesplitter and Fire Shrieker. The Punisher gets like 2/2 for every equipment card attached to it so that's 8/8 to it's 3/3 or 4/4 (I can't remember) plus it can attack twice thanks to Fire Shrieker. Besides Necropotence isn't that spectacular I mean all you really get is an extra card in your hand during the discard phase for 1 life. Revival effects are useless to because discarded cards get removed from the game which is kinda lame. I mean it's a pretty good card but nothing totally spectacular

Look closer. Necropotence IS spectacular because you get to draw as many cards as you want to for the small cost of one life. You can fill up your entire hand with new cards for seven life. If that isn't good, I don't know what is. Your ability to continue in the game is not measured by the life you have, rather the cards. Necropotence: cheap cards. It is accepted by most to be one of the most unfair cards of all time. On the other hand, let's look at Loxodon Punisher and the responses each colour has to it.
Black: Just kill it.
Red:Just burn it
Blue: Just counter, steal or bounce it
White: Prevent it from attacking
Green: Pump out something biggger and better

Ah yes true but still you could merely counter Necropotence or use a disenchant spell of some sort like Creeping Mold. Besides Loxodon Punisher is usually part of a white weenie equip deck meaning there would be several other low cost creatures on the field. Your life is a big part of keeping the game going, I'm not saying that having good cards or a good hand isn't but you need to protect your life at all costs. Of course I just pretty much inadvertantly supported your point in saying so because with a large hand you can throw out multiple creatures as defense. Of course in the end it doesn't really matter because none of the card examples either of us are using are competition legal anymore anyway.

Competition legal? Actually, it depends on the type of competition you're playing. Life is not important to a lot of decks because they have better things to do. For example:
Beating you down with little 2/2s while you can't do anything because your hand is empty on turn four and the only thing you have is land (me)
Waiting fifty turns before you naturally deck yourself (stasis)
Instantly winning (Type one decks)

Gah I concede, enough you win our little debate. That and I'm far too tired and busy with homework to continue discussing the point. Besides I was never really that good at Magic anyway..heh

Dragon Tyrant. The reason it sucked is because you need to tap 4 fire mana each turn its on the field or else it dies.

Eww that definitely isn't worth 6/6 and double-strike...unless you happened to have a red mana-heavy deck which really isn't practical unless your deck is centered around using sorceries to clear and control the field then summoning heavy hitters like Dragon Tyrant to wipe out your opponents life.

Are you accusing me of being a noob? Because I have a plethora of decks that could wipe the floor of anything anybody else here has shown me. And don't disrespect the goblins, in some decks they can consistently have you beaten (not actually beaten, you just can't stop them by that point) on turn four.

Listen, there is only one competitive deck with salvaging station in it and that deck does NOT have welding jar in it.
