Uneasy Prayers

The Day Before The Fight
"On this day, we pray to thee, O Holy One. Protect us in our times of hardship and woe, and give us the strength to defeat our inner demons. We pray to thee, on this dark day, so you may be a shining beacon, and deliver us from the shadows, and show us the light."
The priests finished their prayer and stood in unison. They were in a circle around a stone statue of The Goddess of Light, Celestia. In this cold, stone chamber, they had been for an hour, praying to this stone effigy. They believed that Celestia could hear them through this manner of prayer, but no one except Celestia herself knew if it worked. It was superstition that kept the tradition going, and any sing of the prayers stopping wasn't in sight.
The priests formed two lines and left the chamber, their hands clasped in respect and silent prayer. Once they were gone, a lone figure emerged. He was a great warrior, though at the moment, was not in uniform. He had long, brown hair and dark green eyes. He carried several scars from the battlefield, and his armor was worn. Sheathed was a long sword, given to him by Celestia herself. This man was a warrior sent by Celestia to assist in the suppression of the shadows. Now, the warrior stood in front of the statue, gazing into the stone eyes of Celestia. He knelt, and looked up at Celestia.
"My Goddess, the forces of darkness are growing ever stronger. Even now, The Dark Baron Yazhuta advances along the south route, destroying all in his path. The forces of Empress Lucia cannot hold him off much longer. My Goddess, what should I do?"
*He knelt in silence for a few moments, before a heavenly voice filled the chamber. The once stone eyes of Celestia now glowed a bright white. Celestia spoke to her warrior.*
"Young Crimson, you have served me well, but Yazhuta is a creature even you cannot defeat."
"But how can this be Goddess?" Crimson spoke, refraining from losing his temper. "You spoke of me as unbeatable. And up until this moment, no creature has withstood my blade. What makes Yazhuta so different?"
"Crimson, Yazhuta is a great demon that has lived for centuries. Crimson, though you are powerful, you are no maych for him. If you face him, he will kill you..." Celestia said.
Crimson stared at the ground for a while, then looked at Celestia.
"My Goddess, I will obey you. I shall not engage Yazhuta. However, should my assistance be needed, I will help, even if it endangers my life. I would gladly sacrifice my life for this kingdom." Crimson said staring sternly into Celestia's eyes.
Without any further words, Celestia's eyes returned to stone. Now, Crimson looked up at Celestia. So many thought filled his head.
Should I face Yazhuta? Should I deny the wished of My Goddess? Would I survive?
Crimson kissed his forefingers and placed them on the lips of Celestia. He then lowered his head and exited the chamber.
"Forgive me My Goddess, for what I must now do."
